Hope everyone had a great New Year’s Eve! Mine was spent with my wife and baby at a Zuoyuezi clinic. We all fell asleep two hours before countdown began and woke up two hours after the festivities were over to the sounds of a hungry baby. Welcoming our daughter Josephine to the world on December second really made 2010 an unforgettable year. On the blogging side of things – long periods of inactivity were interrupted occasionally by sudden furies of postings. I expect a similar blogging schedule in 2011. So what were some of my favorite posts during the Year of the Tiger?
- Images from Bopiliao Old Street – exploring a once important passage between Monga [present-day Wanhua] and Guting Districts.
- Dihua Street – Taipei’s biggest Chinese New Year market.
- Puli’s Paper Dome – a beautiful church made out of recyclable materials after the Kobe Earthquake of 1995 and transported to Taiwan following the 921 Earthquake of 1999.
- Nantou’s Mefeng Farm – NTU’s Highland Experimental Farm’s Peach Blossom Festival.
- Taichung’s Rainbow Military Dependents’ Village – a village that has become popular from the paintings by veteran Huang Yung-fu.
- The Jhongliao Loop – I didn’t do nearly as much cycling in 2010 as I originally thought I would due to an injury early and later due to other life changing events, but this was by far my favorite route of the year.
- Low Tide at Bitou Fishing Port, Nanwan Beach, Hengchun’s Historic Gates, and The National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium were all about the awesome places we checked out during our nephew’s visit to Taiwan.
Wishing everyone a great 2011!
A very Happy New Year to you Todd. Truly enjoyed your blogs past year. Thanks for all the wonderful photos and articles. I haven’t been to any of these places except Nantou and Dihua street (I work within 5 mins walking distance to Dihua street)
Happy New Year Ashish! Let us know next time you’re in Nantou!
Happy New Year Todd. I hope you are enjoying fatherhood.
Thank you David! Happy New Year to you, too! Really enjoying fatherhood! Hope I can make time to meet up with you and Mark for another photowalk in Taichung sooner or later!
Oh yes I would in Taichung to attend my colleague’s wedding on 1/15. It will be at noon so if you are thinking of early morning or late afternoon photowalk I’m in 🙂
Ashish – I will actually be in Taichung on the fifteenth to attend the wedding of one of my wife’s friends [would be quite a coincidence if it was the same wedding]! Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to head out to Taichung early or stay late for photowalking.
