The Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum [臺北縣立鶯歌陶瓷博物館] is a great stop for anyone wishing to get out of Taipei City for a day. Cathy and I took my parents there while they were visiting Taiwan and we all loved it. Signs are in both Chinese and English, there’s an audio-tour, and it’s easily accessible by train or bus!
The museum’s permanent exhibitions include: Traditional Pottery Techniques, Development of Taiwan Ceramics, the History of Yingge, Prehistoric/Aboriginal/Contemporary Ceramics, and High-tech Ceramics. The museum is admision free during their extended evening hours on the second Saturday of every month [Offical Website details].

Gorgeous photos Todd. I remember going there in 2005, quite fascinating place.I should make another trip there really. This whole series is just incredible. I suppose you had hard time to pick these 3 photos from the whole set. I especially liked the fish photo from flickr set 😉
Add this to the list of places I still haven’t been to. It’s amazing to think that I’ve been in Taiwan for 6 years, traveled extensively through the island and still have so much of it that I haven’t seen. Thanks for the report.
Ashish – Thanks, picking the photos was hard. It’s a really fun place to photograph, don’t forget your prime lens (no flash allowed)!
Craig – I think I would rate this as one of my top three favorite museums in Taiwan.
This are great photos. Especially the earth tones and composition of the first image. Yingge is a very interesting town, I will have to go back and check out the ceramics museum.
Thanks Jo! It means a lot to get a compliment from you!
