    At our wedding we gave away smokes sand betel nuts – lots of em…
    Argh – perhaps this comment will kill my image – only the truth, only the truth…

    I’ve seen people give away smokes, but never betel nut… guess I haven’t experienced a true Taiwanese wedding yet!

    I’ve yet to find a Taiwanese “gift” cookie that I’d recommend to someone. They’re largely the same – sweet, flavourless and gritty – in whatever shape, colour, fancy box they come in. I guess the point is they’re not really for eating. They’re there for show, or for giving away as a gift (and subsequent re-gifting!)
