Jhongsing Lotus Pond

Lotus

The Lotus Flowers [荷花] in the ponds near Jhongsing Gate began blooming a couple weeks ago. Given my current work schedule, the only time I have daylight to photograph anything is before work, so 4 of the last 5 days I have dropped by the ponds to get in a few minutes of shooting before clocking in.

The ponds are on the way to work, so stopping by is really no fuss at all. Unfortunately for me, I never wake up early enough to get in more than 10 minutes of shooting per session.

On a weekday morning there are usually three to six people shooting. Today when I went I saw a dozen people there for the sole purpose of photographing, as well as a couple of families.

Other photos from the lotus ponds can be conveniently found in the following Flickr set. Next week I’ll have a post devoted to the various creatures found in and near the ponds and a review of my new gear bag. Stay tuned!

The morning dew makes for great shots. I have to get out and photograph the lotus soon as well.

Early photos featured on this website were taken with a Canon S200. The S200 was replaced in Nov. 2006 with a Nikon P3. In Aug. 2007, I fell in love with a Nikon D40.

Panoramas on this site are created using a wonderful little program for MacOSx called Calico. All images are hosted on Flickr, but you probably already knew that.
